Position Summary:

Manages Supply Chain Management senior buyers, buyers, and associate buyers, along with performing major procurement activities, in the acquisition of a broad range of products for the Military Assembly Plant. Assists in implementing strategies that support AMGBOS and provide a competitive advantage, while also implementing best-in-class processes and tools to drive superior performance.  Understand, analyze and communicate cost and supplier data in a Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)/Government environment. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and supervise a team of Senior Buyers, Buyers and Associate Buyers in business transactions, relationships and contractual actions in accordance with Government/Customer requirements and AMGBOS.
  2. The Manager oversees $200M in yearly material spend to support the Military Assembly Plant
  3. Assist the department in understanding Government regulations and ensure contractual requirements (performance, delivery, quality, etc.) are satisfied in a timely manner.
  4. Perform and adequately document complex cost and price analyses to ensure fair and reasonable price determination; work with team members to ensure contract files are complete and satisfy Government/Customer requirements to maintain SCM's approved Cost Estimating and Purchasing Systems.  
  5. Alert to cost reduction measures to eliminate unnecessary company expenditures and enhance profit.
  6. Interacts with and supports all company departments, maintains a professional company image to suppliers, visitors and the general public.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business/Accounting, Masters Degree is preferred
  2. A minimum of 5-10 years of procurement experience
  3. Emphasize working with FAR requirements and within a government approved purchasing system
  4. Professional Certification (CPSM and/or CPSD) by the Institute of Supply Management is preferred Ability to work alone and as a team necessary  

Physical Effort:

Physical effort required for the position is within a typical office environment. Light-intermittent sitting, standing and walking required with no physical strain. No heavy lifting required.
