Job purpose

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall project direction, completion, financial outcome, and administers both the owner and subcontractor relationships for assigned projects.  This position will assist Division Manager with market development and management and will oversee a single large project or multiple projects.  The Senior Project Manager is responsible for directing and mentoring on-site staff.  The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage and/or coordinate Company personnel and resources
  • Develop skills and mentor project management employees, including conducting employee evaluations
  • Management of regional assets
  • Sponsors major pursuits
  • Assist in pre-bid efforts
  • Perform constructability reviews
  • Oversee project buy-out process
  • Recruitment and team building within Division
  • Oversee cost control and change management systems 
  • Enhance and maintain relationships with clients, designers and consultants
  • Oversight of initial master schedule and updates  
  • Review and approve Sub-contractor Payment Applications
  • Review pay application to owner
  • Attend and lead project progress meetings
  • Communicate and enforce Superior Safety Program  
  • Demonstrate commitment to Superior Safety Program through own actions and mentoring others  
  • Oversee project close-out 

Qualifications

  • BS Construction, Engineering, or other relevant fields of study
  • Minimum twelve years of industry tenure
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to manage teams on evening and /or alternative schedules when needed
  • Thorough understanding of the construction industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and cost control skills
  • Excellent management skills
  • Functions effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to develop or maintain relationships with clients
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately
  • Excellent time management and organizational skill
  • Excellent decision making/problem solving skills

Working conditions

This job may be performed in the office or in the field and requires frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching.  Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.  He/she must be able to navigate the job site and is expected to be able to comply with all safety regulations in the office and on the job site. The role requires travel, up to 40%, and long hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, a pressurized environment is the norm.

Physical requirements

Must be able to navigate rugged terrain, climb substantial heights, and work over and on water.
